I get the impression that people are totally unwilling or unable to admit that they have "low points" or struggles in their faith. People who do have a legitimate problem to talk about are often met with less-than-genuine responses, like "You need to trust God alone." or "You just need to spend more time in the word." Because of this, people are left feeling totally alone and trapped with their questions and doubts, unaware that any other "good" Christians secretly share the same questions. It's sad to see, really.
Thanks for this well-written post :)
(My first comment had a typo that would have been confusing, hence the delete)Katehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12989327977214052025noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4225502016359798858.post-70602515431287245672015-01-23T04:21:07.682-06:002015-01-23T04:21:07.682-06:00This comment has been removed by the author.Katehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12989327977214052025noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4225502016359798858.post-51572098841582849252013-01-20T21:33:17.337-06:002013-01-20T21:33:17.337-06:00The line between good doubt and cynicism is one I ...The line between good doubt and cynicism is one I walk every day, so it's hard for me to say for sure. I would say that "bad" cynicism can be thought of as a kind of reversal of blind faith. Blind faith is the refusal to ask, "Could I be wrong about this?"; extreme cynicism is the refusal to ask, "Is there any merit or truth to this?"Davidhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08244026688548871531noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4225502016359798858.post-60078231143141806702013-01-15T15:43:32.035-06:002013-01-15T15:43:32.035-06:00I read your post on doubt with great interest.
